Blogmas Day 2: Christmas Charities

Today I have decided to talk about something that I feel is very important all year, but especially around Christmas: charity.

Yesterday, I listed as many things as I could think of on the spot that I love about Christmas, and it just made me realise that in so many areas of the world, so many people go without ever experiencing even one of those things.

Imagine being without your turkey, and without your fun Christmas jumper and without your festive fairy lights. Imagine not even knowing that is Christmas Day, because you've never had one before.

Surely, you would want people to help you?

I have a couple of Christmas charities that are very close to my heart, and that I love to try and help and support.

The first is Radio Christmas.
RCLOGO600Radio Christmas is an amazing charity set up to help the children living on the streets in Honduras and Guatemala. It helps them to get out of the rubbish dump and off the streets and into somewhere safe where they can grow up away from the dangers of the rubbish dumps and gangs and actually have a childhood.
Every other year, Radio Christmas run a radio station for the entirety of December where local adults and young people can host their own radio show or read the news, all in the name of giving. This station can be listened to from anywhere in the world online, and I would really recommend that you go and have a listen and definitely donate.
They are a no-profit organisation, so 100% of your donation will go towards helping children to have better lives.

For more information, to volunteer, to listen and to donate, please visit their website!!!!

Operation Christmas Child

The second is Operation Christmas Child.
I hadn't heard of this charity before this year, but I got involved with it with my Christian Union in my school and it's a really wonderful charity. It is run by the Samaritans, and I think that it is an amazing concept. The idea is that you pack a shoebox full of presents for someone and it is sent to a country and given to a child who has never had a Christmas present before.
Imagine that - you can give someone their first ever Christmas present, maybe first present ever.

I think that it is too late to pack a shoebox now, but you can still donate to the charity, and I would definitely recommend packing one next year. It's actually a huge amount of fun!

There are so many other amazing Christmas charities out there, and year round one. Helping out the less fortunate isn't just for Christmas. So please, donate anything, whether its a little or a lot, and remember everyone who you're helping.

See you tomorrow!
