Blogmas Day 1: Why I Love Christmas

Hello everyone and welcome to my very first Blogmas! I am so excited for this coming month, because for every single day in December, I will be uploading a blog post. No, that isn't a typo, I will be writing every single day in December, not just the days leading up to Christmas!

I am really looking forward to this, Christmas is one of my absolute favourite things in the world, and I hope that you are too! I love watching peoples vlogmasses(?) and reading other peoples blogmasses, I just think that it is so much fun and I can't to finally be apart of all the action. You have probably already noticed that this blog has had a bit of a festive makeover which will be here just for December, before we have a totally new look for the new year!

I have spent the last month or so planning and preparing and writing as much as I can, so hopefully it will be possible for me to upload every day - those of you who have been here a while know that I'm not the best at completing challenges!

So I thought that I would kick this whole month of by telling you why it is that I love Christmas.

To me, Christmas is one of the absolute best things in the entire world. It is the one time of year when everyone stops whining and just pulls together to celebrate. Celebrate being together, celebrate being alive, celebrate all the joy and goodness that are in their lives.

There isn't anything I don't love about Christmas. I love the decorations, the excitement, the anticipation, the celebrations, the gifts, the songs, the movies, the tinsel - everything! Christmas is as exciting as your birthday multiplied by Easter, multiplied by 8076, added to infinity and then with 4 subtracted. So yeah, pretty exciting.

Christmas has also become even more special to me in the past two years, since I have become Christian. As excited as I get for all the commercial side of Christmas, the thing I love most of all is that it is the foundation of my religion, and I get to celebrate that.

I love advent, and the fact that you get a little treat everyday to celebrate. I mean, when else do you have chocolate with your breakfast? My sister and I have very special advent calendars that we fill ourselves, and I always spend a very long time on November 31st meticulously planning and organising the order of the chocolates, while my sister just shoves them in wherever they'll fit.

I love decorating the house, especially my bedroom. Last year, I managed to hang 6 stings of lights in my room, this year I'm planning to have double that! I have my own little tree in my bedroom as well which is up for the entirety of December. We also have two big real trees in our house which are the most fun things in the world to choose and decorate.

I love Christmas movies, and watch some of them year round - Love Actually is appropiet to watch on a beach on your summer holiday, right? I can't talk too much about them now, because if I start, I won't stop, and I have a whole other post planned to talk about Christmas movies.

I love driving around and seeing how much time and effort people have put into making the interior and exterior of their homes look Christmassy and magical. When I'm older, I plan to be one of those people who have so many lights of their homes that they have to ask for donations from passers by to help with the energy bill!

I love supermarkets getting their special Christmas chocolates in, which is really just the exact same stuff in a fancier box with a higher price tag.

I love how when you go for a walk normally, you just ignore the people you pass, but on Christmas day, you wish them a Merry Christmas, share a cracker and invite them to join you and eat your turkey - just because it's Christmas!

I love how anyone can use the "Oh well, it's Christmas" excuse for pretty much anything - its fab!

I love Christmas jumpers and festive slippers and wrapping paper and frost and Father Christmas and stockings and family and carols and Christmas fetes and snowflakes and Christ and every single thing that goes in to Christmas to make it so special.

I just love Christmas, and everything about it, and I hope that this year I'll be able to spread as much festive cheer as possible with all of you.

Merry Christmas, Happy Blogmas and see you tomorrow!
