Boohoo Summer Wish List

When I was reading one of my favourite fashion bloggers the other day, she had uploaded a new post in which she showed her ASOS wish list. I really enjoyed seeing all of the things that she had been loving and so I thought I might steal the idea and make a little Boohoo summer wish list. I don't know if this is anything that you'll be interested in, but it might be a nice little window into my head, so you can see what I have been looking at and dreaming about.

Ah, if only I had the funds.

I hope you enjoyed this little snapshot of my Boohoo wish list (believe me this is only a VERY little snapshot!), and please let me know if you want more posts like this - I am more than happy to do the research!

See you soon!

Movie Chats - Joy

Today I am going to be talking about one of my new favourite movies: Joy.

It was the last day of Christmas holidays and my family and I decided to go and see it in the cinema, almost as a send off to the holiday before we all went off to school or work once more. As a diverse (and quite bizarre) family, it is very unusual to find a film that we all like. It has happened only once or twice before. However, when we went to go and see this together, we all came out satisfied.

Starring the fabulous Jennifer Lawrence and a whole cast of other amazing actors, it really is a story of never giving up, and being strong enough to take anything and everything that the world throws at you.

Unusually for me, it isn't a rom-com, and doesn't actually have any romance in it at all. It is about an incredibly intelligent divorced mum of two (Joy) in America, who has a messy family. But despite everything that she has to deal with, she cannot compress her creativity and has an idea for a product, that she then tries to turn into reality, while having huge financial difficulties and people constantly tearing her down.

My sister calls it a happy-sad film - just when you think everything is going right and its all good, something happens and everything goes wrong and she's back to square one once again.

I think the reason that I love this film so much is because I find it really really inspiring. I consider myself quite a creative person, and every time I finish watching it, I just want to write a blog, or do some sewing or just something that I can put all of my efforts into and create - it even makes me want to do homework! I also become very inspired by the perseverance, and strength of Joy, and it makes me just want to be like that, to be able to keep coming at things and keep trying over and over again.

I feel like this is going to be one of those movies that I watch over and over again when I need to be picked up or when I need a little burst of inspiration, it is absolutely perfect for that.

I would definitely recommend this movie. It is quite heavy in places, but don't let that put you off because it is just so inspiring, and it has actually impacted me!

Please let me know if you have seen it/ are going to see it, and what you think of it, and also leave some other movie suggestions for me in the comments!

See you soon!

Pleated Burgandy Midi Skirt - Styled 3 Ways

This is my first fashion post, which is something that I am really excited about, but I'm also really nervous about because I really don't have the best sense of style, although I'm learning.

Today I'm going to be showing you 3 outfits that I have styled around 1 key piece, this beautiful burgundy pleated midi skirt which I got for £2 in the Primark sale! (Similar here) I really love midi skirts, I think that they are really elegant, and can be made to look very formal but also very casual. They are really flattering and very versatile.

Running in the rain

Recently, much to the very great shock of my friends, I have been running. Once a day I tie up my trainers, put on a loud pumpy song, and go for a little jog around my area. Nothing fast or far - if I'm honest I don't even run all of it! I'm really very unfit. But the way I see it, at least I'm doing it.

But then the other day it was pouring with rain, so it was quite an obvious decision not to do it that day, and I settled in to enjoy the Friday evening, watching Gogglebox and listening to the rain lashing against the windows.

Then I just thought: why not? Why shouldn't I go for a run? Why should I let the rain stop me? Why can't I be one of those people who everyone looks up to for determination and perseverance no matter what happens (or when the weather happens)? And most of all, why can't I be one of those music video people who run in the rain and look amazing and deep and meaningful?

So I put on some light clothes that would dry off easily, chose a song that I thought would go suitably with the rainy night setting I had devised and set off.

It was like a pretty rubbish cold shower. I chose quite a good time to go, because the rain wasn't as heavy as it had been previously that day, and I was lucky because the route that I run means I ran directly into the rain one way, and away from it the other - so I got equally wet!

But it did do exactly what I had intended and thought it would do. It woke me up, it made me feel alive. It made me feel strong and tough and resilient, which was something that I really needed. Plus, it made me run a lot faster. It was amazing.

Yes, I got home and I was dripping, and my trainers squeaked as I walked across the floor, and I did have to hop straight into the shower. But it was incredible and so so worth it.

It was one of those weird moments where it feels like it is only you in whole world, no other souls, no other sounds (well except of course from the 5sos in my ears).

I would recommend trying running. I am absolutely no good at it, I don't go fast and I can't run far at all, but I do it anyway. And that is the most important part of anything.

See you soon!

P.S. Sorry for the really deep ending - I just felt like I don't have much wisdom on this blog!

Movie Chats - Once Upon A Time

I have been wanting to write a movie chats post for a while now, and I have been watching many movies because of this. However, I'm a bit stuck because I just don't know what to start with.

So, for my very first movie chat, I'm going to bend the rules a little and actually not talk about a movie, but a television show: Once Upon A Time.

I apologise to my friends reading this because they are sick of hearing about it, as I have been talking of little else recently, but I need to find some way to let out all of my Once Upon A Time love.

I started watching it back in Christmas, when a friend suggested it to me. I then proceeded to watch the entire first series in a three days, or something crazy like that.

I then started to watch series 2, but as life became busy again, I found I wasn't really enjoying it, and just stopped.

However when the subject came up at a family dinner party, some friends said that I should definitely try to continue with it, and as I was bored over the Easter holidays with builders working away in my bedroom, I decided to pick it up again.

And I became completely addicted. It probably isn't right to admit that I watched 4 series in a week, and I'm not even slightly ashamed about it - if anything, I'm rather proud!

The basic concept is that every fairy tale you've ever known is plonked down in reality. An evil queen casts a curse to get her revenge on Snow White, and all of the fairy tale characters are sent to the small town of Storybrooke (geddit?) in reality where they no longer remember who they are. Then, Snow White and Prince Charming's daughter, Emma, who managed to escape the curse, comes back to the town after 28 years to break the curse, save her family, and return the happy endings.

As a friend described it, it is the best fairy tale fanfiction ever.

It is really quite addictive, and even if it isn't your thing, it can be quite absorbing. I would recommend it to people who like romance, magic, some very epic sword fights, and of course, fairy tales - but darker versions!

I am now completely up to date with it, and wait for the new episodes to come out once a week so that I can find out what happens next.

My favourite character in it is Rumplestiltskin. Although he is really a baddie, there are so many complex layers to him, and you end up feeling so much more sympathy for him than he deserves - and Robert Carlyle plays him absolutely amazingly! Plus, I ship Rumbelle to the ends of the earth!

I also love the character of Belle, she is kind of like my idol!

And me being me, I absolutely love all of the costumes, hair and makeup, its all incredible!

I really really recommend Once Upon a Time (had you noticed?) and implore you to just try the first episode - for me, please? Let me know if you do decide to give it a go, and tell me what you think!

See you soon!

And leave any movie/television requests for me!

Spring has most definitely arrived

I consider myself quite an optimist, an try to welcome in spring and summer to the best of my ability at all times. If this means wearing ballet pumps when it's pouring with rain or putting my amazing fluffy dressing gown away until next winter, then so be it. I want the sun to come.

Despite all of my efforts however, I haven't really seen much evidence of spring, let alone summer!

That was until the other day when I saw something that really confirmed for me that spring is upon us.

My family and I were walking through a field, which a week before had contained sheep. This time the population of the field had practically doubled, as there were lots of little lammies running around.

They were all really cute, but it was just this amazing show of life, of these week old lambs that really moved me. It was an incredible thing to see as they napped and ran about and played with each other.

This little lammie having a stretch was my favourite! How could you resist?

I Heart Makeup Naked Chocolate Palette

I am really obsessed with Makeup Revolution palettes at the moment. I think that they are just really well priced dupes for loads of the bigger brands, while also being really good quality.

The first of their palettes that I tried was the Naked Chocolate Palette from the I Heart Makeup range, and I love it so much.

The reason that I picked it up was obviously because of the packaging, which is absolutely amazing. The chocolate pieces are really 3D, and it looks so good, I really just want to gobble it up! The palette appears to be a really good dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar - it even smells amazingly realistic of white chocolate!

The colours are absolutely stunning, especially for someone who is as nudes mad as I am. It has a really good mixture of matte and shimmer shades, and a huge variety of shades - no two are similar! I especially like the extra large highlights, I think that is a really nice touch!

All of the colours are super pigmented, much more then I would really expect from the price, and look beautiful on the lid, blending really well.

I don't use a primer (I know I know, I really need to) and so I didn't find that they lasted all day, but they did last a lot longer than many of my eyeshadows, which was a nice little surprise.

The current price of this palette is £7.99 from Superdrug, and I really think that it is worth every penny, especially when you compare that to the £37 Too Faced palette!

It comes with one of those horrible rubbish foam applicators, but I always use brushes so this wasn't a huge problem for me.

The mirror is really large and clear, and fills up the entire inside case.

I really like this palette, and don't really have any big criticisms for it. I think that it is perfect for beginners, or just for relatively simple everyday use - I have been using it everyday for school! I would really recommend it!

Lovely spring shopping!

I went to my local shopping centre with my friend today and had a most lovely time shopping and spending. I had already decided before I left that I didn't want to end up feeling guilty about how much I spend because me being the cheapskate that I am, I dislike spending money. So, because of this, I decided to take all of the money that I was prepared to spend, and have a wonderful time shopping!

And I think that I actually got an awful lot! Go sales!

First of all, I went to Superdrug. I'm going through a bit of a phase at the moment of Makeup Revolution pallets, which are absolutely amazing, and so I just couldn't resist buying one more - especially because this one was reduced! The Pleasuredome pallet was only £4, and I thought that it was a really nice mix of beautiful nudes and a few slightly brighter more out there shades. I am looking forward to using these, because I am using nudes to death at the moment, and am quite ready to start incorporating a little more colour!

Next, I went to Primark (let the celebrations start!). I bought this really nice causal light shirt with yellow sleeves (which I was drawn because yellow is my favourite colour). It was just really comfy and I don't actually have a huge range of casual tops that aren't pyjamas, so I thought that I am probably going to get a lot of wear out of it, and for £5, it really wasn't that bad! Fun fact though, I am actually wearing it as I type this!

I then bought this little white summer dress (because I really don't own enough of those already). I thought that this would just be really nice for when I go to Italy next month, something casual and light to wear. I just really liked it and I didn't think that you can get much wrong when it's only £6!

Lastly from Primark I bought a little midi skirt (because I'm absolutely OBSESSED with midi skirts at the moment!) I'm not entirely sure about this, because I don't really know what to wear with it, and I'm not sure about the pleats... However I do have a little vision of me wearing it with a little black crop top I own and my leather jacket as a slightly more formal outfit, perhaps for autumn? Mind you, it was on the Primark sale (yes, that is the best thing in the entire world) and according to the label it had been cut down from £10 to £5, which I thought was quite a good reduction. When I got to the tills however, I found out that it was actually only £2!!!! Absolute bargain!

Next I went to H and M, where I unusually didn't find a huge amount that I liked. By this point I had actually done something quite foolish and made a bit of a bet with myself that I would have to buy at least one thing from each shop that I went into, in order to try and beat my cheapskate disorder. So because of this I bought this rather iffy purchase of a £6 sweater type jumper. The colours are quite me, so I think that I will get some wear out of it, but now that I'm reflecting I don't think I really bought it for the right reasons... *guilty face*!

I then went to New Look, somewhere that I really haven't had much success with for the past few years. I have to admit, I don't really like the main bit of the shop (most of it is a little out of my price range), but the teens section is really really good! I am a little too big for most of the stuff there, but some of the stuff I can fit in to! I bought this shirt which I really wasn't expecting to like, and only took in to try on with a skirt that I didn't end up buying. However, I really really liked it! It was £12.99, and I'm really looking forward to wearing it!

And then my friend persuaded me to do something that I've never done before. I went into Topshop. And because of this bet that I had made with myself, I headed straight for the sale rail, and founded this little cropped (very cropped) dotty top, that I really liked. It was only £6, and I'm now a very proud owner of Topshop clothing! Which is something that I will be bragging to absolutely everyone!

Then, feeling quite elated by my Topshop purchase, I thought that I would push the boat out even further and go into Zara for the very first time! Tucked away at the back of the shop were 50% off sale rails, where I honoured my bet and purchased this top that I really like. It's black and cropped and it's quite structured, with little pointy shoulders that make me feel like a dragon for some reason. It is also really textured with a ribbed kind of pattern on it, which I thought was a bit different. And being quite possibly the cheapest item in the store at £5, I was most chuffed! I am now the owner of Zara clothing as well!

So that is my little (well not so little) spring shop. I had a huge amount of fun today with my friend (shout out to her, you know who you are!) and I'm very much looking forward to wearing all of my lovely new clothes!

See you soon!
