Today's ranty Friday is less of a rant, more of an explanation of a change in my mind.
You see, I hate the number 7. I just hate it.
This week, I was in my Christian group in school and we were discussing the number 7 and its relevance in the bible. 7 is the number of perfection, and completion and holiness in the bible, and is just a really really good number.
Which I sadly disagree with. 7 sucks.
I do actually have reasons, I'm not just being wildly prejudice.
1. It's a prime number. Come on people, it's just TRYING to be difficult.
2. It's a 1 in disguise. I'm serious, if you don't write it really fancily with a line through it, it is literally a slanted 1. Which annoys me. Seriously 7, be a bit more original.
3. What is the name? Seven? Seriously? Seven. Seven. Servern. Seven. Se. Ven. Seven. Sev. En. Seven. Shevhen. Seven. See what I mean?
So I hate all of this dislike stored up inside of me all centred against the number 7. But then, last night, I decided to ask Siri for some facts on the number 7.
And what it threw up, well, it's completely changed my opinion on the number 7!
1. There are seven continents in the world.
2. A set of seven similar things that are considered as one unit is known as a septet.
3. A research by the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Stanford School of Medicine says that our skin is regenerated in 7 days. And every cell in our body is replaced every 7 years.
4. The stages of grief are considered to be seven in number. They are shock, denial, bargaining, guilt, anger, depression, and acceptance.
5. In the US tradition, the seventh wedding anniversary is known as the Wool or Copper anniversary.
6. In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Brothers Grimm, the number of dwarfs is seven.
7. In J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series, Ginny Weasley is the seventh child of the Weasley family. Harry potter was born in July, the seventh month of the year. 7 is the number on the back of his Quidditch robes. Wizarding students have to complete seven years of school at Hogwarts. The chest in which Professor Moody was hidden had seven locks. Moreover, there are seven books in the Harry Potter series.
8. The colors of the rainbow are seven in number.
9. There are seven days in a week.
10. There are seven basic musical notes, namely, 'do', 're', 'me', 'fa', 'so', 'la' and 'te'.
There were loads more, and I had to be quite selective about the ones that I included, but I'd really recommend you go and look at the website that I got them all from! (Not sponsored)
So after careful deliberation, I have decided that the pros of the number 7 vastly outweigh the cons, and therefore I am now going to start on the journey of beginning to accept 7's new status in my mind.
What is you favourite/least favourite number? Why?
See you soon!
